WELCOME TO THE WHITE ROCK TENNIS CLUB

The Club was established  in 1968, when Edith and Alan Webster attempted to find a process by which their children could participate in a junior program. When it was determined that juniors could not participate unless they were sponsored by a recognized Club, they Webster's used their efforts and White Rock Tennis Club was established. Bruce Webster, son of Alan Webster became the Club Coach. Private or group lessons became available from Bruce .
Junior play has been a strong part of the club's activities and its success in Club Zone play are well known. If you have a child,  or know of a youngster who would like to play, please contact a member of the Executive for more information and watch for notices on the club notice board.

Around 1978, the Club received approval from the City of White Rock to erect  its own clubhouse and was given jurisdiction  over use of the courts, conditional upon the Club providing the facilities for coaching programs. The Clubhouse and equipment belong to the Club members, while the City retains the ownership of the land and courts.

White Rock Tennis Club strives to be a fun organization. If the weather is favorable, play takes place  all year on a drop-in basis. There is no need to make up a foursome. If there are members waiting to play, doubles take precedence over singles play. There is provision for members to pre-arrange their games and choose their own partners every morning until noon on all three courts and after 2:30  p.m. on court 3 only, provided that the courts are not being used for official coaching. Again doubles take precedence over singles and short sets 6-5 are to be played.

During the year there are fun tournaments  for members.  For those wishing to play inter club tennis, the spring league is for our more serious players.    In the summer, we have a mixed league called the beach league which offers the members an opportunity to mix with players from other clubs. In addition the Club hold several fun tournaments during the year, such as 1st of July, Victoria day, Labour day,  and Edith Webster Tournaments.

Fees are established at the Annual General meeting in October. Currently there is a one-time initiation fee of $100.00. Annual dues are $75.00 per person. The Club year is May 1st to April 30th. The coffee pot is always on and free to members and guest, but you will need to bring your own cup.

The names and telephone numbers of the current Executive are posted in the Clubhouse.  Please feel free to call any member of the Executive for answers to any questions you may have.

Come out and have some fun.
