Edith Webster Tournament 2004
Sept. 26th
held at White Rock tennis club
This is an annual challenge trophy tournament between
White Rock & New Westminster,
was successful against the New Westminster Tennis Club allowing us to keep the trophy for one more year. White Rock kept up its tradition of providing clean and dry courts (thanks to Doug McCabe) and good food, coffee and juice (thanks to Tracey Daniel). Our New Westminster guests were good company and appeared to enjoy themselves.
The weather co-operated (although misty and chilly for most of the morning) permitting us to play the sixteen required prosets--4 men's doubles, 4 ladies' doubles, and 8 mixed doubles proset matches--on our three courts from 9 am to 3 pm, culminating in the trophy presentation to our club by Bruce Webster.
Although White Rock dominated the final tally of prosets won--14 to 2
( a copy of previous years final score ) there were many good rallies and close matches. In overall Edith Webster Tournaments won since the tournament's inception in 1994,
White Rock now leads New Westminster six tournament wins to five.
Players participating are all listed on the scoreboards down below.
