CANADA DAY 2005
One of the highlights of the 'Tennis Club Year' is the Canada Day Tournament which once again was a huge success and enjoyed by about 45 of our members.  Betty Bishop got things started in the kitchen with fresh watermelon & cantaloupe, yummy muffins and coffee.  Our Master Chef for the day was John Torsky who  once again organized a super pancake breakfast complete with eggs, sausage, bacon and of course pancakes & syrup.  Thanks to John and  his crew , Helge Jensen and Frank Sommer  for this wonderful feast. The Round Robin Fun Tennis Tournament was set up by our capable organizers,  Jack Withenshaw generously gave us his expertise along with David Gold.  This is always lots of fun with a little competition thrown in the mix.  Prizes were awarded to ......  Ladies 1st place to Betty Dupuis  and  Clare Martin took second, Men's was won by Chales Wang and there was a 3 way tie for second Tony Franklin, Helge Jensen and Peter Mueller .........Congratulations!!! These fun social tournaments are a great way for everyone to get out, play tennis, meet new members and have lunch - all for $5.00 - what a deal! Our next event is B.C. Day - August 1st.  The Tournament will be the Sunday before which is July 31st so watch out for the flyer and come out and play with us!
